Much of the existing career advice seems tailored to those entering the field, fresh from school or changing careers. What about those more established in our careers but not yet Principals or VPs? How can we stand-out in a more crowded environment and best showcase our years of experience? In this session, you’ll get practical tips for considering your next career move and interviewing as an “established” candidate. Learn from personal job-hunting experience and feel prepared to conquer your next round of interviews.
About Caroline Little
Caroline is currently a Senior UX Researcher on the Global UX team at AstraZeneca, a biopharmaceutical company. She focuses on delivering high value digital experiences to patients, healthcare providers, and sales teams. Caroline has worked in a range of industries at both Fortune 500 companies and start-ups. Her previous roles include lead product researcher for the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app, UX lead for the first app cleared by the FDA as a medical device, and an exhibit designer at the Smithsonian. Caroline is the proud mom of two energetic little boys and an active member in the cult of Peloton.

Is it time to become a freelancer?
It’s 2020. There’s a pandemic. The jobless rate is sky high. So wanna go freelance? (Hint: There is no wrong answer to the question). We’ll talk about the things you need to think about when you wonder whether it’s time to transition to UX freelancer. And we’ll consider what kind of role Covid-19, global job insecurity and overall economic uncertainty should have on that decision.
About Cory Lebson
Cory Lebson, author of The UX Careers Handbook, has been a user experience consultant for over two decades. He established Lebsontech in 1997, and in 2008, he transformed this side-business into a full-time occupation. Cory focuses on user research and evaluation. He also greatly enjoys teaching topics related to UX and conducts regular talks and workshops. He has been featured on the radio and, in addition to his book, has published many recent articles. Cory has an MBA, an MA in sociology and a BS in psychology. He is a former president of both UXPA International and UXPA DC.
