It goes without saying that we at UXPA want to engage with you. Both UXPA International and our UXPA chapters have a lot to offer. But don’t stop there. If you’re already involved with UXPA, don’t limit yourself to UXPA events or to a single affiliation.
Over the past few years UXPA staff and volunteers have been working to provide a web platform that is worthy of our membership. We made a decision early on to produce not just a website, but a true end-to-end system for everything from content management, member management, and collaboration. To that end, we selected the open-source Drupal CMS as the backbone of the system. We then added in eCommerce, discussion threads, member management, and the like. The result is a great solution for the future of UXPA, and allows us to be more agile as an organization.
UXPA has meant a lot to me and has been a professional home to me for the past ten years, first at a local chapter level, and shortly after, at the international level as well. I am very much looking forward to leading UXPA this year, helping to grow an organization that in turn has so much ability to help other user experience professionals along their career journey. This will be a year of partnerships, of learning, of global community and of connections.

The May 2014 issue of User Experience magazine will explore the UXPA conference theme of motivation. What motivates people to use (or not use) sites, apps and other products? What motivates companies and teams to do their best work? How do you motivate others as a colleague, expert, or facilitator? And what motivates you? Proposals are due December 20, …
