Susan Farrell and Jakob Nielsen publish free User Experience Careers report

On March 11, Susan Farrell announced the publication of a report about User Experience Careers, based on a survey of people working in interaction design, user experience research, and information architecture.  According to Susan, they hope that the report “will be useful to students, academic advisors, or people interviewing for UX Positions”.  The report answers the question “What is user experience, why are these professions worth considering, and how should I prepare to enter the field?” UXPA is proud to share a link to the report.  You can access it here: Download Report

Exciting New Features on the UXPA Website

Over the past few years UXPA staff and volunteers have been working to provide a web platform that is worthy of our membership.  We made a decision early on to produce not just a website, but a true end-to-end system for everything from content management, member management, and collaboration.  To that end, we selected the open-source Drupal CMS as the backbone of the system.  We then added in eCommerce, discussion threads, member management, and the like.  The result is a great solution for the future of UXPA, and allows us to be more agile as an organization.

President’s Corner (Jan, 2014): Looking forward to an amazing year

UXPA has meant a lot to me and has been a professional home to me for the past ten years, first at a local chapter level, and shortly after, at the international level as well.  I am very much looking forward to leading UXPA this year, helping to grow an organization that in turn has so much ability to help other user experience professionals along their career journey. This will be a year of partnerships, of learning, of global community and of connections.
