In this presentation, which will include a question and answer session, Josephine Giaimo will lead an exploration of the inter- and intra-personal factors associated with perfectionism, generally. She sees perfectionism as a personality aspect associated with giftedness.
Josephine will discuss the connection between the UX career path and unidentified giftedness. This will include the positive and negative aspects of perfectionism and how they manifest in a variety of UX-related career paths and situations. She will discuss how perfectionism in the UX field can become a catalyst for self-actualization and humanitarian ideals. She will introduce Dabrowski’s theory as a framework allowing us to see how perfectionism can change in form, depending on one’s level of personal development.
Participants will:
– Come away with a deeper understanding of themselves and others
– Understand the positive and negative aspects of perfectionism in their own lives
– Be able to apply their newfound understanding to their UX-related work, and their own expectations of themselves
– Gain a new appreciation for their own giftedness and how their own levels of personal development shape how they may view themselves and their own progress
