During the spring of 2019, UXPA International rolled out a Mentorship Program matching members from the UXPA community seeking some professional guidance with industry professionals who have worked in UX for five or more years. The first iteration of the mentorship program matched 111 mentees with 83 mentors and created some long-lasting friendships that continued beyond the program. Since then, we have had cohorts annually – matching hundreds of mentees with mentors. We look forward to having you join our program!

Mentorship Cohorts
Our program promotes learning partnerships among professionals in the UX industry as well as those getting started in the field. We aim to match (as best we can) UX professionals based on various criteria, which includes their career development goals and areas of expertise. In our latest cohort, we matched 85+ mentees with mentors!
Our Fall 2024 mentorship cohort will be from October 15, 2024 to December 15, 2024. There are limited spots available and applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Completing a mentee application does not guarantee that you will be matched. In the event that we do not have enough mentors, you may be added to a waitlist for the next cohort. If you are matched with a mentor, we would like you to plan to have scheduled online meetings every other week.

What do I have to do to sign up?

To participate, mentees need to be a UXPA International member, in good standing, by the application submission date. Annual memberships start at $35/year for students and provide you with plenty of other discounts to organization events and educational opportunities. How do I become a mentor?

Mentors should have at least five years experience in the UX industry and should be able to commit to meeting with their mentee. We seek professionals with design, research, or content strategy experience. Additionally, mentors need to be a UXPA International member, in good standing, by the application submission date. The mentorship cohort typically lasts two to three months.
If you make a few attempts to connect with your mentor or mentee and don’t hear back, let us know and we’ll find you a new person to work with.
Mentee FAQs
You should plan to meet with your mentor at least once every other week for the duration of the program. Some meet more depending on their schedules.
Yes! We understand that not all matches are perfect. If you feel that you and your mentor aren’t a good fit, let us know and we’ll match you with someone else.
Of course! If you and your mentor are able, we would hope that you would continue to work together past the duration of the cohort.
Yes! You can join the program as long as you like. We don’t have any restrictions on how many times you can sign up.

Yes and many mentors do! As long as you have time to work with more than one, we are happy to match you with more than one mentee.
